Heartwood
A 75 day challenge, one ring a day
Heartwood is a calm tracker for 75-day challenges. Every day is a ring with one arc for each rule. Finish the day's rules and the ring seals and becomes a growth ring of your own tree.
Coming to the App Store For iPhone, iOS 26.0 or later.
How a day goes
- You open today's ring. Your rules are under it, with what is still open.
- Apple Health does part of the checking. A workout from your Apple Watch fills its arc by itself and shows its proof: "Outdoor run · 47 min · 7:12 · Apple Watch". Steps, water and mindful minutes work the same way.
- You do the rest by hand. A glass of water, your pages, your progress photo, a tick for your diet.
- The ring seals. It turns to wood and settles into the trunk. Your tree has one more ring.
Forgot to log something? Heartwood never fails a day at midnight. Yesterday stays open until today ends.
The challenges
All of them are free, and before you start you can change any amount, switch a rule off, and choose strict or flexible.
- 75 Tough 75 days Two 45-minute workouts (one outdoors), your diet, no alcohol, a gallon of water, 10 pages, a progress photo. Strict.
- 75 Medium 75 days A 45-minute workout, your diet, 2.5 L of water, 10 pages, 10 mindful minutes.
- 75 Soft 75 days Eat well, a 45-minute workout, 3 L of water, 10 pages of any book.
- Winter Arc To Dec 31 A 45-minute workout, 10,000 steps, 2.5 L of water, 10 pages, a few lines in your journal.
- Lock In 30 30 days A 30-minute workout, 10,000 steps, 2.5 L of water, 10 pages, no screens in the last hour before bed.
- No Sugar 30, Dry Month, 10K Steps 30, Read 30 30 days One rule each: no added sugar, no alcohol, 10,000 steps, 20 minutes with a book.
Miss a day? Your rules
- Strict. A missed day ends the attempt. It stays in your grove as a stump with its rings, and you start again at Day 1 when you choose.
- Flexible. A missed day becomes a pale ring that does not count, and the end moves one day later. A flexible challenge can also pause when you are sick or injured.
Either way nothing is thrown away. Every attempt keeps its rings, its proof and its photos.
A photo a day
The camera shows yesterday's photo as a faint outline, so every photo lines up with the last. Photos stay inside Heartwood on your iPhone, with an optional Face ID lock. When you finish a challenge, Heartwood makes a timelapse of them, on your iPhone.
